Zinefest is full!
We have sold out of space for the 2010 Twin Cities Zinefest. But don’t lose heart! We may be able to find room for you yet. There’s plenty of time between now and July, so who knows what will happen in the meantime? If you would like to exhibit at the TC Zinefest, but haven’t yet applied, please contact the Coordinator, Sarah Morean, to be placed on the wait list. Email her at zines@zinefest.org.

Photographic Memories of Zinefest 2009
Thank you to everyone who exhibited at this year’s Zinefest, or attended and spent time with us.
Photos of Zinefest 2009 are now up on our flickr account for you to view. If you re-post the photos elsewhere, or print them for any reason, please credit the Zinefest photographer Sarah Jordet for her work. She took almost all the photos you see on our flickr account, and below.
This year, we had Sarah J. photograph everyone at their table on Saturday. Have fun looking through the gallery and finding your favorite zinesters! To get to the largest size of the photo available, you will have to click it (and be transported to a new page) twice. Exhibitors are free to use their own photos for promotional purposes, or however they want.
If you have any photos of Zinefest to share, please add them to our group pool on flickr! LINK

Independent Variables: Contemporary Zine Publications
In collaboration with the Twin Cities Zinefest, the Minnesota Center for Book Arts is currently hosting a zine show called Independent Variables: Contemporary Zine Publications. The show will run from June 26-September 6, 2009. Have a seat in the Open Book cafe, pull a book off the wall, and read a zine. Go to MCBA’s website for more information about their location and hours: LINK
You can see more images from the show on the Zinefest flickr page: LINK
From the exhibit:
Independent Variables
Contemporary Zine PublicationsZines represent the power afforded self-publishers and demonstrate the liberating effects associated with democratic methods of distribution. Publications from a variety of artists populate this interactive celebration of independent voices.
This exhibition and another on the second floor are presented in conjunction with Minnesota Book Arts’ July 25, 2009 Book Art Biennial, Mature Content: The Artist’s Book as Advocate, a daylong exploration of art’s power as a tool of social change. Visit www.mnbookarts.org for more information.
For more independent thinking, visit Zinefest, the area’s premiere DIY craft, culture and self-publishing event, July 11 and 12, 2009 at Stevens Square Center for the Arts, 1905 3rd Ave. South, Minneapolis. Visit www.zinefest.org for a schedule of events.
